If you’re travelling through Thio on the East coast, a stop at the Grand Borendi tribe to admire the works of Calixto is a must.

Self-taught and a native of Borendi, his pieces are created by hand and you can visit every weekend.

His tribe is roughly one hour away from the village and camping is available.  Sylvie, his partner, is always happy to initiate visitors into the art of weaving coconut leaves.
